The most visited project March 2007 – February 2008

IV Edition 2007

Diana Polkowska
 Tutor: Krzysztof Domaradzki

Cultural Heritage and Tourism Development. Studies of Public Spaces, Identity and Landscape shaping of Przemysl City.

Warsaw Technical University, Faculty of Architecture,
Warsaw, Poland

Here’s the words of Diana Polkowska about how she feels about the prize and the Florence-Expo project:

“Winning the IV Edition of Best Diploma Projects is a great surprise and distinction.

I would like to thank all the people, who have visited my diploma project “CULTURAL HERITAGE and TOURISM DEVELOPMENT. Studies of Public Spaces, Identity and Landscape shaping of Przemysl City” on the Florence-Expo website, so many times.

The main idea of my diploma project was to find out ways of developing Przemysl as a theme city – ‘touristic city’.

Because of Przemysl City has a long history, the rich cultural heritage and splendid urban landscape, the work on the project was divided into two parts:
1) Studies and analyses of cultural heritage, historical spatial development and conservation principles under dr hab. Arch. Danuta Kłosek – Kozłowska’s supervision
2) The project consisting of three parts: I-‘Idea’ of Touristic City development (Przemysl and the Region); II-‘The City scale’ – the model of ‘Touristic points of junction’; III-‘The City Centre’ – creating new public spaces under dr Arch. Krzysztof Domaradzki’s supervision.

The project gained win recognition in Poland and was nominated to take part in the three diploma competitions.

The International Competition – Best Diploma Project – gave me the opportunity to present my work to the general public and also to promote Przemysl ,as a touristic city, all over the world.

Participating in Florence International Expo of Best Diploma Projects gives the chance of visibility in the professional world, changing experiences, looks and good practices, so I’m very pleased of taking part in the IV Edition.”

The History of the Foundation

Posted by fondazionedelbianco on June 20, 2008

Paolo and Romualdo Del Bianco, in Florence, from the moment of the falling down of the wall in Berlin, have begun a research to develop the International Integration among the People of the Countries of the block of ex Soviet System.

After some years of positive experience to value the development of this research, the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation was founded with this specific Goal: Social Mission, which is International Integration among people of different Countries, Cultures and Religions.

This is our Motto:

To contribute to the process of International Integration:

For the Peace in the World, among Youth of Different Countries with the Culture

Meetings, getting acquainted, understand each other

to develop the Friendship among People

With this the Foundation means to contribute to confirm Florence as a town of meetings connected with culture and stimulated from this; hence Florence town with high level of vocation of Peace; Florence as a Missionary of Peace.

We believe that we have to direct our efforts to Young people and their enthusiasm in getting acquainted, as well as their hunger for art and culture. This is the reason why those students of foreign faculties, play the leading role in each international meeting which our Foundation arranges every year in Florence. At this time, we repeat, a special attention is shown to the students coming from Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Asia and Far East. Due to different reasons (historical, political or geographical) these countries have recently shown a great interest towards a stronger international integration and their young generations have just embodied this growing interest.

Together with other students – coming from different Countries – they join meetings, exhibitions, concerts and many other kind of initiatives through which the Culture (without any distinction) becomes an engine for the development of interpersonal meetings, knowledge and acquaintances and so it favours friendship.

Hence the Culture is a powerful engine for the Peace.

What is the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation

Posted by fondazionedelbianco on June 19, 2008

The Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation is a non-profit Florentine institution endorsing an array of cultural events in order to encourage mutual exchanges of knowledge among young students, academicians and professionals from different countries with an extensive network of universities, libraries, museums, embassies, consulates, as well as public and private cultural institutions and organizations worldwide (www.fondazione-delbianco.org).Being fully conscious that the cultural and artistic heritage possesses itself a high capacity for transmitting the values of interpersonal and intercultural exchange, reciprocal awareness and understanding, the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation has long been committed to a program of cultural initiatives at its safeguarding and appreciation.

Thus the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation intend by means of their program to attract the enthusiasm and consensus and, if possible, the impassioned involvement of all those who see in art and architecture non only universal expression of beauty and cultural identity, but also a powerful instrument with which to stimulate interpersonal and intercultural meetings, reciprocal awareness and understanding, and thus friendship between peoples; not solely an effort aimed at the protection of a patrimony which belongs to all humanity, but an investment for world peace; as the Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation’s motto : “discovering the past together – working to build a shared future”.

A special attention is given to students coming from Central and Eastern Europe, Eurasia, Asia and Far East, because due to different reasons (historical, political or geographical) these countries have recently shown a great interest towards a stronger integration with western countries and their young generations just embody this growing interest.

Here enclosed you can find some of the main features of the activity of Romualdo Del Bianco Foundation, as well as the most important results of its partnership with Vivahotels “Art in our HeArt”.
